A SOLDIERS  STORY

With strong conviction to serve his country, Greg decided to join the United States Army in 2008 and spent over four years in service, deploying to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.  He was trained as a Forward Observer, however after being at his duty station for only a short while, he was immediately attached to the Public Affairs Office by his Brigade Commander to utilize his skills as a photographer.  Greg became the Special Projects Manager and photojournalist for the 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division documenting the "Soldiers Story," and connecting families to their loved ones abroad. 

 

From 2009-2012 Greg produced a large body of work for the Frontline News Paper, a Garrison Publication from the 3rd Infantry Division of Fort Stewart, GA.  During which time, covering various events and training exercises in and out of country and co-producing the Yank, the Spartan Bi-Weekly.  During the span of his coverage of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn, Greg's photographs have been used by; The New York Times, L.A. Times, BBC World News, BBC Arabic, National Geographic, Newsweek and many more.

 

In October of 2011, Greg was chosen to participate in the Eddie Adams Workshop, an intense workshop, of which only 100 top photography applicants are selected worldwide.  Participants are chosen, from over 1000 applicants from around the world, based on the merit of their portfolios. Greg participated on the "Bronze" Team.

 

Greg completed his Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design with an emphasis in Mixed Media Painting and Photography in the Spring of 2015 and is actively pursuing a Master of Photography certification.
